When should i use latex paint and when should i use acrylic?

I'm painting wood furniture, but it would be good to know in the future too when to paint with what.When should i use latex paint and when should i use acrylic?
Its really up to you dear.. Acrylic is so easy to use and wash up but the old latex is a little more messy..In saying that for a high quality furniture finish latex will give you a deeper lustre and a harder surface in the long term...
