How do you remove latex paint?

I have a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary that was given to me by my grandfather. When he had it, he painted it with 2 coasts of blue (latex paint) and white on the veil. Underneath the paint is a very beautiful stone, how can i remove this paint so the stone will show? How do you remove latex paint?
It's always best to try the least harmful solution first.

Latex is not water-soluble after it dries, but it's also not going to stick very well to stone, especially if it's a polished stone. You can try to soak the paint film off by soaking the statue in water. If you're lucky, parts of the paint will start to lift/peel off, which you can help along by pulling with your fingers.

If not, you're going to have to go the paint-remover route. Try to get the non-toxic kind. How do you remove latex paint?
The stone could be affected by the paint remover, so get a dull kitchen knife and scrape at the stone to remove the paint from it, that is, If you only want to remove the paint from the stone only as those figures were made way back in the stone ages, Paint remover could damage the statue alone, so Hoped I have helped, Have a great week
