Can i put polyurethane on a table which i have painted with Acrylic Latex paint.?

I am building a beer pong table, and i have been using Valspar Acrylic Latex Primer and Paint. I know this is not oil based, but does this mean i cannot use Polyurethane to protect the table? Also i have Valspar Clear Gloss, which i am assuming is clear coat, would clear coat protect the table just as polyurethane would? Can i put polyurethane on a table which i have painted with Acrylic Latex paint.?
This is a very unusual combination...However, it can be accomplished %26amp; successful as long as the latex paint has cured completely, usually up to a week. As far as the results go. What I would first attempt doing is using this procedure on a sample board to show you the results. My thoughts are if you were to apply the poly too thick, it might have a wrinkle appearance. Also, if the poly has an yellowish orange tint to it, it might effect the final color you're trying to achieve...You'll probably have the best results using a ';waterborne'; poly...Deft %26amp; Minwax both make a good product..Hope this helps...Can i put polyurethane on a table which i have painted with Acrylic Latex paint.?
Yes, just be sure the undercoatings are completely dry before applying the poly. You know they are completely dry if the surface is not tacky and when you put your nose to the surface you cannot smell any paint.

Most ordinary polyurethanes are clear. Only in recent years have manufacturers been adding colors to some polyurethanes (Minwax, I believe is one) to make it a one step process.

The polyurethane itself is what protects the finish, not the sheen or color of the poly. Auto manufacturers always clear coat automobile finishes on top of the color coat, except they will usually use a lacquer instead of poly. For what you are doing forget lacquer. It can only be best applied using a sprayer and it requires skill to apply.
