Does paint thinner take latex paint off ? and what will gas do?

we are trying to take old paint off of the paint brushesDoes paint thinner take latex paint off ? and what will gas do?
Go to your local paint store, and buy a product called ';Brush %26amp; Roller Cleaner'; It will cost about $6.00 for a quart. soak the brush in the cleaner for 10-15 minutes and it should come clean. if it is really bad, leave the brush in for a couple hours. after you have soaked them, wash in soapy water, hang to dry and it will be like a new brush. if they were cheap brushes, toss them. I am assuming they are worth the trouble to clean the up.Does paint thinner take latex paint off ? and what will gas do?
Never use gasoline for anything but an engine. It's extremely dangerous. Paint removers are a good choice. However, you didn't say what you were taking the paint off of. It could make a big difference.
There are quite a few products that are made to do exactly that. You can get them at any Home improvement store (Menards, Home depot) or paint store.

Once paint hardens you can't get it off with gasoline or paint thinner.
You clean latex paint brushes with water -- in fact, many people prefer latex because of the ease of cleanup. Paint thinner is used to clean up oil-based paints.

P.S. If the paint is dried on, cleaners may not work. You may have to throw out the brushes.

Paint thinner will only do so much. When cleaning it you have to kind of massage and scrape the paint off with your fingers. Gasoline will help. It takes off pait off of a car. But, that is also a waste of gas. Just continue with paint thinner and water.
Latex paint is water-based. The minute your are finished painting something, that is the exact time to clean your brushes and rollers in warm, soapy water. If you allow the paint to dry on those brushes and roller, paint thinner, water or gasoline will do nothing to soften that paint. If the brush is not an expensive one, then just toss it and go buy a new one.

Rollers are rarely worth the cost of trying to save.

There are special ';brush cleaning products'; that you can find in the paint section of large hardware stores that will help soften the paint on brushes but once again, it comes down to the value of the brush vs the time it takes to clean it and the price of the brush cleaning solvent. I could see you doing this if these were expensive hog's hair brushes meant for alkyd based paints but most brushes meant for latex paint are made from synthetics.

Gasoline is a highly volatile product that evaporates into the air quickly. In an enclosed space, this could prove to be deadly because if enough gasoline fumes are present, it only takes a small spark to cause an explosion that will disintegrate an entire home and then burn whatever is left of it. Never, ever use gasoline as a cleaning tool. It's meant to power internal combustion engines only.
