Can I use regular latex paint on interior wood stairs?

I have so much left over paint and I need to paint the wood stairs going down to the basement. I know the best paint wood be porch/floor paint but can I get away with a latex wall paint? Can I use regular latex paint on interior wood stairs?
You can, but as you said, it wil not hold up very well. What you could do is to add a quart of water based polyurethane to 1 gal. of your latex paint to toughen it up. It won't affect the color that much and will give a much harder surfaceCan I use regular latex paint on interior wood stairs?
Yes you can provided you take the necessary steps of prep work like sanding, cleaning, priming, and then painting.
